Delaware FFA Conferences
Delaware FFA prides itself on offering a continuum of leadership experiences not only for FFA Members, but for all students enrolled in agriscience education in Delaware. Outside of chapter visits and other interactions with FFA Members, the Delaware FFA State Officer Team puts on three leadership conferences a year, along with State FFA Convention. During the leadership workshops in each conference, FFA Members work to gain premier leadership, personal growth and career success through experiential and inquiry-based learning.
DISCOVERY FFA Leadership Conference
The DISCOVERY FFA Leadership Conference reaches students in the 6th-8th grades. The focus of this conference is on developing the individual leader with overarching goals of understanding what leadership is, how one's goals and values make a difference in their success as a leader, and developing a leadership action plan.
IMAGED! FFA Leadership Conference
The IMAGED! FFA Leadership Conference reaches students in the 9th grade who are just beginning their pathway in agriscience education. The goal of this conference is to help each individual leader see how they play a vital role in the success of AgEd in Delaware. Through facilitation by the state officer team, the attendees grab hold of the flash of energy that will propel them on to future endeavors within the FFA. Attendees will develop a leadership action plan for the upcoming year.
QUEST FFA Leadership Conference
The QUEST FFA Leadership Conference is geared to students in the 10th-11th grades. The focus of this conference is to develop the student as part of a team. Many of these students are taking an active role in their FFA chapter and are looking for that extra support to be able to take the next step in running for chapter office or serving as a committee chair.
Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference
Delaware FFA chapter officers convene each September at the Delaware YMCA's Camp Tockwogh to receive the training necessary to lead their chapter for the upcoming school year. Each officer meets with their respective State Officer to learn what is involved in being the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter and Sentinel. Following this, the officers move into workshops led by the State Officers, covering topics such as communication, goal setting, time management, conflict resolution, creating a program of activities, agricultural issues, diversity, and building relationships. The chapter officers also work with the YMCA staff to process the low ropes course and other outdoor activities, such as archery and rock wall, for teambuilding, communication, and finding the strengths of each officer.
Delaware FFA State Convention
The ultimate leadership experience for all FFA Members is to attend the Delaware FFA State Convention held annually in March, the same month that the Association was chartered back in 1930. Students celebrate the history of Delaware FFA by making their own history through participation in Career Development Events (CDEs), participating in the Delegate Process to make decisions that will effect the future of the association, and hear from keynote speakers and workshop presenters throughout the two days, to further develop premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
