Joey Nowotny, from the Laurel High FFA Chapter, is the 2023-2024 State Sentinel. He will be attending Delaware Technical Community College, majoring in Agribusiness. If you want to hear the real story, Joey was inspired to participate in FFA because he was told there would be food at the first meeting he went to when he was in middle school. Thanks to Mrs. Ruggiero and Mr. Wood he never left. With their wisdom and oversight, Joey was able to grow and develop his passion for not only agriculture but for the constant chance for opportunity and relationships Joey will be able to keep forever.
“The most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in FFA is come out of my shell and boost my confidence when it comes to public speaking. I am the kind of person to succeed and do my best to win at anything I do. But one thing that never came easy for me was public speaking. Trust me when I say that even now I am not perfect, but through the years of practice, getting out of my comfort zone, and a little bit of luck I was able to accomplish my goals, and the most important thing, grow! Anyone has the power to do anything they want. Don’t look at your goals as one big thing, take little steps and grow one day at a time. I am beyond excited to work with Delaware FFA and maybe watch as we all grow together.”
